“If I Were the Zookeeper” will explore the fun job of zookeeping. Ever wonder how we train a tiger to stand? Want to get the inside scope on building a lion exhibit? Or would you like to learn our otters favorite toys? Then join us for an awesome summer!
How Zoo Animals Play
Dive into the world of zookeeping and learning how animals play at the zoo. Preschool-Grades 6 will design and build toys, also known as enrichment, for some of the zoo’s most charismatic critters.
What's For Lunch
Discover some of our animals favorite foods in this delicious camp class. Campers will also get the chance to whip up a tasty treat for our resident animals to enjoy. Preschool thru Grades 6 will get a look behind the scenes at the zoo’s kitchen area.
Vet Check-up
Ever wonder how we care for our resident animals? Join us in exploring all there is to know about keeping our animals healthy and happy. Preschool thru Grades 6 will took a look under the microscope in a zoo themed science experiment.
Who Made This Big mess
It’s a messy job, but somebody has to do it! Grab your shovel and get ready to get dirty as we explore the messiest part of zookeeping. Preschool thru Grades 6 will get hands on with the help of some of our zookeepers.
Exhibit Engineers
Put on your construction hat and prepare to get creative. Learn all about how we make the zoo a home for our resident animals. Preschool thru Grades 6 will learn about exhibit design as they face the challenge of transforming exhibits at Roosevelt Park Zoo.
What is Animal training
Think you have what it takes to train a 420 lbs tiger? Campers will take on the role of animal trainer as they uncover why animal training is so important. Kindergarten thru Grades 6 will also get a special tour with the opportunity to see animal training up-close.

Important Information
- Please enroll your child into the grade level completed at the end of the school year in the Spring of 2019
- All camps, with the exception of tot classes, are intended to be drop off.
- Children should be fully potty trained
- Drop off & pick up will be inside the Roosevelt Park Zoo visitor center
- Camp doors will open 10 minutes prior to start time
- Indicate any health needs or food allergies on your registration
- Please indicate who will be picking up the camper. A photo ID will be requested at the end of each camp day
- Camper should eat a healthy meal before arriving to camp, a light snack will be provided
- Dress children in casual, comfortable, weather appropriate clothing – send a jacket on cool days. Campers will be walking around the zoo*
- Full payment is due upon registration
