ZOO CENTENNIAL COMMEMORATIVE BOOK
Books may be purchased in the zoo gift shop. All online orders will have shipping added.
Photos, newspaper articles and a collection of milestones have been assembled by Roosevelt Park Zoo & Minot Daily News. Thanks to zoo supporters who purchased space in the book, the book is being made available to our community for $39.95 – all of which will directly support the #NewHabitat for our leopards.
Roosevelt Park Zoo’s original building was opened to the public on December 18, 1921. Our first permanent structure established RPZ as the first Zoo in North Dakota.
Minot Park District declared RPZoo on April 9, 1914. At that time we were home to 24 …squirrels. An American Bison from Montana was our first large mammal in 1920. The Zoological Building was our first permanent structure (which still stands as our current Aviary) in 1921. And in 1922 our name changed from Riverside Zoo to Roosevelt Park Zoo to honor the late 26th President Theodore Roosevelt.
