Big Cat Country
Leaping Leopards! The existing habitat for big cats was built in 1975 for a price tag of $42,000. It was the first project taken on by the Greater Minot Zoological Society. In poetic fashion, the Minot Zoo Crew has made the largest financial commitment to date: $500,000 for the renovation of the existing facility. The plans are in early stages, as the renovation will follow the completion of the lion and tiger habitats, however, we have big ideas.

Currently, we are home to Amur Leopards and Snow Leopards. Both species will double the amount of space they have right away. As both are climbing species, we plan to dig down and build up to make way for climbing features and catwalks; they are predators after all and predators like to be above us. We will work to naturalize the viewing experience for our visitors with natural rock on the existing building and clearer lines of sight.
