School Groups and Tours
Please contact the zoo two weeks before your planned visit. Spring tours fill up fast and days get busy, we'll help you plan a fantastic, educational visit. Email, call or fax your school information, contact person, grade level, number of students, arrival day and time, and please make note if you would like a guided tour, or tour the zoo on your own.

Zoo Teens

The purpose of this program is to provide trained volunteers ages 13-18 who enhance the zoo experience with daily activites. Possible duties include: zoo camp helper, zoo maintenance, animal enrichment, daily activities and interaction with the public. The park program is a chance to find out about Roosevelt Park Zoo, meet the keepers, learn about the animals, and spend some exciting days helping the zoo. This program runs May-August. Pick up an application at the zoo office.

Teens for Planet Earth

Are you a teen who is interested in doing more for the earth? Do you find yourself pondering conservation issues? If so, join Teens for Planet Earth, a group of teens dedicated to improving the world around them. To learn more checkout www.teensforplanetearth.org or call Becky at 857-4166.


Discovery Barn Classroom

The Discovery Barn, located in the Children's Zoo, has been turned into the zoo's classroom. Enjoy Zoo Camp, Birthday Parties, Outreach Animals and other educational activities in the private setting of the Discovery Barn. Enroll your child in zoo classes to discover more about the zoo!

Sponsored by the GMZS, summer zoo camps feature sessions for all age groups, including families/special needs. Camps will include crafts, games, educational activities, and up-close animal encounters. Costs are varied according to the number of days and hours each camp runs. Children should be enrolled according to his/her COMPLETED grade level. Preschoolers must be four years old by June 1st.
