Found in Wild: throughout most of the United States and southern Canada. They live in forests, swamps, deserts and mountains.

Size and Description:
  • Weight: 15-30 pounds
  • Length: 26-41 inches
  • Long legs, large paws, short tails, tufted ears
Diet (zoo): carnivore diet
Diet (wild): hares, rabbits, birds, rodents, eggs

Interesting Facts:
  • Bobcats usually live alone; their home base being rocks, a cave, a hollow log or thicket of bushes.
  • Kittens are taught to hunt at night. The mother uses the white underside of her short tail to signal kittens.
  • Like most cats, they are solitary animals.
  • No natural enemies other than man (trapped for fur).
  • The bobcat's broad feet spread, keeping it from sinking into snow.
