Found in Wild: Southeastern sections of United States.

Size and Description:
Alligators can grow to be 18 feet long. They have wide, flat heads with broad, round noses. A crocodile's head is long and triangular.

Diet (zoo): processed meat and fish designed for zoo animals.
Diet (wild): fresh meat and fish

Interesting Facts:
  • Alligators are reptiles, which means:
    -they are ectothermic which means they do not produce their own body heat
    -they have scaly skin
    -they lay eggs
    -they breathe with lungs
  • Legs and feet allow them to walk on land and their powerful tails aid in swimming.
  • They sun themselves to keep warm and cool off by slipping into the water.
